Holidays
There are two different types of festivals celebrated in Turkey as religious holidays and national holidays. Whilst religious holidays are Ramadan and Eid-al-Adha; national holidays are celebrated as 23 April-National Sovereignty and Children's Day, 19 May-Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, 30 August-Victory Day and 29 October-Republic Day. Each of these national holidays has a different meaning. National holidays are extremely important in terms of creating national consciousness in the country. Schools also offer teachings about national holidays and are holidays that are officially celebrated by the state. National holidays are celebrated in Turkey every year.
